Every year at Christmas, Bath sparkles with glittering lights and the streets are filled with festive spirit. Soak up the festive atmosphere with Christmas lights, festive events, fantastic food and independent shopping. From magical city illuminations to special artisan treats and a fantastic programme of festive events, the city has united across arts and culture, retail and hospitality, to allow you to discover the magic of Bath this Christmas.

From hunting unique gifts from the Artisan Makers in Bath Abbey Quarter, to exploring the Christmas Light Trail that illuminates the city, plus many more events and festivities throughout the festive period, there are so many ways to enjoy Bath at Christmas this year.

This Christmas, some of Bath’s most iconic streets and buildings will be brought to life with magical illuminations.

Bath & North East Somerset Council and the Bath BID have invested in spectacular monument lighting in some of Bath’s iconic streets. The installations has been designed and produced by Fineline Lighting. The lights will be switched on at 3:30pm, and the city will be illuminated every day from Thursday 25th November until the end of the year.

Head to Milsom Street from 5pm on Thursday 25th November for the official switch-on of the Christmas Light Trail.

From Friday 26th November until Sunday 19th December, a selection of local artisan makers will be on show at Bath’s iconic Abbey Quarter, displaying their unique crafts. From blankets and Christmas decorations, to brownies and jewellery, grab a gift for the whole family!

Complete with a Victorian carousel, festive food and drink, and live entertainment, browse Bath’s skilled makers and enjoy the sights and smells of a traditional Christmas.

This year sees the return of some of the Christmas activities we know and love, as well as some exciting new additions. Enjoy traditional celebrations around the Abbey Quarter, an illumination trail of the iconic and historic buildings of Bath, the sustainable and family friendly Elves’ Swapshop, an assortment of Christmas shopping options, and street entertainment and carol singing throughout the festive period.
